Nothing says cosy like a steaming glass of mulled wine or mulled cider. With a few simple ingredients and a touch of spice, you can create delicious festive drinks to enjoy at home, in your café, or to serve to friends and customers
Mulled Wine
Ingredients (serves 4–6):

1 bottle red wine (750ml)

1 orange, sliced

4–5 whole cloves

2–3 cinnamon sticks
-
2–3 star anise
-
3–4 tbsp honey or sugar (adjust to taste)

Optional: splash of brandy
Instructions:

Pour the wine into a saucepan over low heat (do not boil).

Add the orange slices, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and star anise.

Stir in honey or sugar until dissolved.

Let simmer gently for 15–20 minutes to allow the flavours to infuse.

Optional: add a splash of brandy for extra warmth.

Strain and serve warm in heatproof glasses or mugs.
Mulled Cider
Ingredients (serves 4–6):

1 litre apple cider (non-alcoholic or alcoholic)

1 orange, sliced
-
2–3 cinnamon sticks

3–4 cloves
-
2–3 star anise
-
2–3 tbsp honey or brown sugar
Instructions:

Pour the cider into a saucepan over low heat.

Add the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.

Stir in honey or sugar until dissolved.

Let simmer gently for 15–20 minutes (avoid boiling).

Strain and serve warm, garnished with an orange slice or cinnamon stick if desired.
